Bluetooth Shortcut Keyboard guide

Set up Air Mouse and phone volume-button controls

Two Pro tools offer control beyond the button grid. Air Mouse maps supported phone rotation to pointer movement while you hold a pad. Volume-button controls assign actions to Volume + and Volume − while that tool is active.

These guides describe the prepared 2.46 source. Its Google Play publication is not confirmed. The Store link opens the current public release, whose controls and available features may differ. Device and host compatibility vary.

What to know

  • Air Mouse requires a supported rotation sensor as well as Pro and a working Bluetooth input connection.
  • Hold the Air Mouse pad, keep still briefly, then turn the phone; release the pad to stop movement.
  • For volume keys, configure actions, choose Save actions, then Start volume controls. Leave the screen or choose Stop volume controls to stop.

Before you start

First verify ordinary Keyboard or Mouse input on a compatible Android 9-or-newer phone and a computer that permits Bluetooth keyboard input. Paid access cannot fix missing HID support.

Check the app’s upgrade screen for current Pro purchase terms. Air Mouse sensor support varies by phone; basic Trackpad remains the alternative when the required sensor is unavailable.

How to do it

  1. Open and check Air Mouse

Choose Tools → Air Mouse. Read the status before trying to move. If it reports that the phone needs a rotation sensor, use Use Trackpad instead. A supported sensor and an active connection are both needed for this mode.

  2. Learn hold-to-move

With a connected computer, hold the large Air Mouse pad. When it shows HOLD STILL, keep the phone still briefly so it can find the starting position. Then gently turn the phone while continuing to hold the pad. Watch the pointer and release your finger to stop sending movement.

  3. Adjust without losing control

Use Pointer settings to change Sensitivity or Invert vertical movement if required. Test a short motion after each adjustment. Use Left click and Right click for explicit clicks at the computer pointer’s position. If Movement stopped appears, check the connection before holding the pad again.

  4. Set the phone’s volume-key actions

Open Tools → Use volume button as. Choose Slides for next/previous slide keys or Music for next/previous track controls, or edit Volume + and Volume − individually. The preset changes the draft; review what each key will send and choose Save actions.

  5. Start, test and stop volume controls

With the computer connected and actions saved, choose Start volume controls. Test one key in a harmless presentation or media session and check the computer’s result. Choose Stop volume controls before editing the mappings, or leave this tool screen to stop. Saving a mapping alone does not activate it.

The two tools solve different problems

Air Mouse is useful when a short pointer adjustment by turning the phone feels more convenient than a touchpad. Holding the pad is the movement clutch: release it while repositioning your hand. It is not an always-on motion tracker, and the phone does not see or recognise the computer screen.

Volume-button controls are useful when you want a physical Next or Previous control. Slides sends arrow keys, while Music sends media controls. Their effect depends on the active computer application and its configuration. These are not a promise that every presentation or media player interprets the keys identically.

Use the visible state as your checklist

StateNext check
Unavailable on this phoneUse basic Trackpad instead of assuming a purchase adds the missing sensor.
Not connectedConnect the intended computer before starting input.
Actions not savedReview the volume-key draft and choose Save actions.
Ready to startStart volume controls only when you are ready for physical keys to send actions.
Controls activeCheck the shown mappings; stop controls before changing them.

Keep ordinary volume behaviour predictable

Volume-key capture belongs to the active tool screen rather than a permanent background remap. Stop the controls before returning to normal phone use. If a key has no configured action, the tool identifies it as Phone volume unchanged. Test your particular phone instead of assuming every manufacturer delivers hardware-key events in the same way.

Limits to keep in mind

  • Pro entitlement does not supply missing phone sensors, Bluetooth HID support or permission to pair on a managed computer.
  • Host focus, media-key handling and phone hardware vary; verify the actual result before relying on these controls in a live presentation.

Questions and answers

Are these free features?

Air Mouse and volume-button controls require Pro. Basic Mouse and Trackpad + Keys remain available in the free tier.

Why will volume controls not start?

Check that the computer is connected, at least one action is configured, and changes have been saved. The screen shows the relevant next step.

Will phone volume keys control the computer after I leave?

They are intended to control the computer only while this tool is active and armed. Leaving the screen stops the controls; it is not a system-wide background remapping feature.
